Lung Cancer Awareness

SM

August 1 is World Lung Cancer Day.

STOP SMOKING NOW.

About 80% of all lung cancers are believed to be attributed to smoking.

Smoking cessation results in immediate benefits with respect to longevity, cancer risk and overall health.

Lung cancer is one of the most common types of cancer with about 238,000 new cases estimated to be diagnosed in the United States in 2023 alone.

Stop smoking, feel better and reduce your risk.

See your doctor immediately for any suspicious symptoms such as changes in your breathing, new or changed character of chronic cough, coughing blood, unexplained weight loss, loss of appetite, or pain.

Never ignore changes in your health or any symptoms.

Delayed diagnosis and delay in treatment should absolutely be avoided.

If you have concerns about this diagnosis, or if you have already been diagnosed, please do not hesitate to contact me at Rahway Regional Cancer Center at 732-382-5550.
